1. The Story of Creation
In the beginning, there was nothing. Darkness covered everything. Only God existed. One time, God commanded that there should be light, then the light appeared. Then He separated the light from the darkness, named the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” The first day began when evening passed and morning came. On the second day, God separates the water and sky.
“Let the water under the sky be gathered in one place, and let dry ground appear,” God said, and it happened. God referred to the dry earth as “land,” and the gathering waters as “seas,” and he declared it to be good. He commanded the land to produce vegetation and fruit-bearing plants and must multiply according to their various kind. The day and night passed and that was the third day.
God created the sun to serve as light during the day, and the moon and the stars on the fourth day to serve for the night. These lights will become the timekeepers for years and sacred periods. God created all living creatures in the sea and the air and commanded that they reproduce according to their types. “Be fruitful and expand in number, fill the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth,” God blessed them. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
“Let the land produce living beings according to their kinds: livestock, ground-dwelling creatures, and wild animals, each according to its kind,” God ordered, and it did. “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness,” God said, “so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Then God formed man out of the dust of the earth and breathed life into him. He made the woman from the man’s rib, and he gave man and woman authority over the entire earth. That was the sixth day.
God was pleased with His creation, on the seventh day, He rested.

2. Adam and Eve
In the Bible, Adam and Eve’s story is told in the book of Genesis. After God created Adam and then Eve, He told them that they can eat everything from the Garden of Eden except the fruit of life. If they did, God told them that they would die. God made Eve as a helpmate of Adam in taking care of all the creatures in the Garden of Eden.
One day, when Eve was walking in the garden, a serpent has come to her and tempted her to eat the forbidden fruit. The serpent made Eve doubt the words of God. He said that if she eat the fruit she will not die but will gain the knowledge and wisdom that God possesses. Eve was tempted and eat the fruit from the forbidden tree. Eve offered Adam to take a bite too and Adam ate as well. Their lives, as well as the lives of all future humans, were changed at the time he ate them. They realized they’d made a mistake instantly. They had disobeyed God and were going to punish as a result.
When God learned about what they did, He got mad and gave them punishment. Adam was told that his work would be hard and toilsome. Eve would bear children with great pain. And the serpent was given the punishment of crawling on the ground and he would be cursed more than any other creature. Adam and Eve were then evicted from Eden and lived life the way we lived today.

3. David and Goliath
One day David was ordered by his father to go to the place where his older brother was there as a soldier fighting the Palestinians. Her father wanted to know if they were okay there. When David arrived at the place, he heard a very large soldier and vengeful stature whose name was Goliath. He challenged the Israelite soldiers but everyone was afraid of him. Goliath mocked the God of Israel, so when David heard this he was angry and he accepted the challenge and said he would fight Goliath.
Everyone was surprised because he was still young and small and had no experience in fighting. But David believed in God, that by the strength of his Lord, he could defeat Goliath. Goliath just laughed at David because he was so small and what he was carrying was just a slingshot. But Goliath was hit in his forehead causing him to fall and it was here that David attacked Goliath and beheaded him. Since then, Israel has defeated their enemies. And David becomes King in place of Saul.
Moral lesson: Have faith in God with all your heart and strength and He will lead you to success.
4. The Widow’s Faith
Sometime later, there was a great famine because there had been no rain in the land of Israel. Prophet Elijah had been on a long journey so he became so weak and hungry. When he arrived in Zarepath, he saw a woman gathering a stick. He called her and asked if she could bring him water and bread. The woman said that there is only one meal left for them with her son to eat and after this, there will be no more food for them to eat.
But Elijah encouraged the widow to never lose hope and promised her that God will continue to fill her jar of flour and that her jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land. The widow believed in God’s promise so she prepared their last food and served it with the prophet. After then, the widow and her son never ran out of food because the Lord rewarded her for her generosity and kindness to God’s prophet.
Moral lesson: When we have faith in God and follow His will, He will not forsake us and will provide for our needs.
5. The Temptation of Jesus
One day Jesus went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John the Baptist. When he arrived John could not believe that he was the one to baptize a Son of God, but Jesus told him to do so because it was his Father’s command. After Jesus was baptized, there was a sudden voice in heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Then Jesus left and went into the wilderness and fasted for 40 days and 40 nights so he was hungry.
So Satan tried to tempt him and commanded that the stone be turned into bread if Jesus was the Son of God. But He did not listen to his command and was told that it was not God’s will because man does not live on bread alone but on every word of God. The second time the demon tried again but he still failed. Until the third time, Satan gave up and left the Lord because Jesus had cast him out. Then angels came and ministered to the Lord Jesus.
Moral lesson: Be still in our faith in God and be firm to fight against temptations.
6. Jesus Stops the Storm
When evening came, Jesus commanded his disciples to get into the boat, for they were going to the other side, and after speaking to the people, the Lord also boarded. As they sailed, heavy rain fell, the wind picked up and the waves grew bigger. Big waves hit their boat, and the boat they were in was flooded, and the disciples became very afraid. But Jesus fell asleep so his disciples woke Him up and said, “Lord, help us, we are going to drown”, Jesus got up and stopped the wind and the waves. His disciples were amazed at what he did, so He told them if they were afraid, would they still not believe? So to their astonishment, they whispered to one another, “Who is this, even the wind and the waves obey him.”
Moral lesson: Do not be afraid no matter what storm we are facing. Keep believing that God will save us from any difficult situations.
7. The Origin of Different Languages
The origin of the world’s various languages, according to the Bible, dates back to the time when the ancient peoples built a huge tower. They did not want to be forgotten by different generations and so that they would not be separated from each other so they built a huge and tall tower. But their plan was not by God’s command to multiply and go into all the world, so God came down and confused their language. Because of this, they could no longer understand each other so others were forced to leave and go somewhere else, until then lands and places started to be inhabited by people, and for a long time, the people inhabited the whole world. Since then, each place and island has had its language to this day.
Moral lesson: God will destroy the wicked plans and no one can defeat the plans of God.
8. Noah and the Ark
From Adam and Eve, the population of humanity increased and a large number of humans became wicked. Noah was the man who gained great favor in the eyes of God. Because of human wickedness, God decided to destroy everything except the family of Noah. He decided to bring flood throughout the earth. He asked Noah to build a huge ark that can hold one male and one female of every kind of animal and creature.
When the rain started, Noah took his family into the ark. The rain poured for 40 days and nights. People and other animals outside the ark were drowned in the flood. After the rain, they come to rest on a mountain. Noah sent a dove outside to find dry land and when it returned it has an olive leaf signaling that the storm was over.
God promised that he will no longer send a flood to earth and He placed a rainbow as a sign of His promise.
Moral lesson: God hated sins but His love for us still remains as He continues to give us a chance to repent.
9. Jesus Feed the Thousands
When Jesus preached, thousands of people were following Him. He felt compassion for them and healed their sick. One day, one of the apostles came to Jesus and said to tell the people to leave to find their food because they are in a remote area and had no food around. Jesus replied to them “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” But the apostles told Him that they only have five loaves of bread and two fish left. Jesus told them to bring the bread and fish to Him. Jesus lift the bread and fish and gave thanks to the Father and gave them to the disciples and the disciples pass them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied. The disciples collected twelve basketfuls of leftovers. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Moral lesson: God is a great provider. He will continue to do miracles in our life even in moments of hopelessness.
10. The Birth of Jesus
A long time ago, there was a young woman named Mary. She is a very kind, obedient, and humble servant of God. One day, Mary was visited by an angel named Gabriel. “Hail, Mary, full of grace the Lord is with you.” Mary was confused by his salutation then she was told that she would bear a son and should be named Jesus. This would be the son of God. Mary was engaged at that time with Joseph and when Joseph learned about it he was hurt and did not believe in Mary. One night, an angel came to Joseph’s dream and told the truth that Mary would be pregnant by the Lord and will give birth to a son who will be the savior of human sins.
Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem to obey the census ordered by the emperor. When they arrived in town there was no place to stay. The inns were full. Mary was due at any moment, so the lady offer them a stable to stay. Mary went into labor and gave birth to a boy. She wrapped him with cloth and lay him into the manger.
The angel appeared on the shepherd in the field watching their sheep and bringing the news that the savior was born. They immediately went to find the baby which was told by the angels laid on the manger. Three wise men were traveling from afar eastern country and saw the bright shining star in the sky just above where the savior was born. They follow the star and find the boy in the manger. They knelt and worshipped the savior and they gave gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day.
Moral lesson: God chose to be born in the lowliest of circumstances in order to demonstrate detachment from material possessions.
